Deadly Memorial Day weekend for New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS - Authorities said at least 18 people have been shot since Friday in the city of New Orleans, with at least three deaths reported.
The latest shooting happened just before 4 p.m. Monday in St. Roch, where a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed.
The violence began Friday night when eight people were shot at a graduation party in Gentilly. Authorities said Tremaine Robertson, 15, was killed and that an argument led to the shooting. Four women and three men between the ages of 19 and 30 were also hurt, and all of them are expected to recover.
In another incident Sunday evening, NOPD responded to a report of shots fired in New Orleans East and found an injured man left for dead. The victim later died at a local hospital.
