Seismologists say there have been more than 50 aftershocks following a magnitude 6 earthquake in eastern Turkey.

Nearly 60 people were killed and another 100 were injured.

In the hardest hit village of Okcular, local authorities say homes were crumbled into piles of dirt.

Officials say a village near the epicenter "is totally flattened."

Some of the injuries occurred during the panic, when people jumped from windows or balconies.
