Traffic on Interstate 10 westbound near Grosse Tete is closed because of a major accident involving an 18-wheeler.

A truck travelling eastbound crossed the median and sideswiped an 18-wheeler in the westbound lane causing a fire.

Louisiana State Police say four people were involved and at least two person are dead.

Troopers say the only survivor, a 15-year-old girl, walked away from the accident. She was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.

I-10 is completely shutdown and will stay closed until this afternoon.

Westbound traffic is being diverted at LA 415.
