BATON ROUGE - The Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended the deadline for victims of Hurricane Isaac in Louisiana to apply for individual assistance.

Storm victims now have until Nov. 29 to register for federal aid. The deadline had been Oct. 29.

FEMA says more than 197,000 residents have applied for federal aid following Isaac's Aug. 29 landfall.

FEMA says it already has approved more than $112.5 million in aid to residents through its individual assistance program.

The Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness had requested the deadline extension.

Residents of 26 parishes have been approved for individual assistance from FEMA.
