WALKER - Sheriff's deputies in Livingston Parish said people who wish to participate in the annual Christmas Crusade toy drive need to get their applications in by Friday.
The sheriff's office will accept applications until Dec. 13 at the training center located at 29225 Woodside Drive in Walker. The center will be open from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and again from 1 p.m. To 3 p.m.
Applicants need to have proof they live in the parish, such as a utility bill or school records, as well as proof of income for all people living in the household. Proof that the household is receiving SNAP assistance will also be accepted instead of proof of income, but EBT cards by themselves aren't enough.
The toy drive is limited to children 12 and younger, so applicants will also have to provide a birth certificate for each child. If a birth certificate is not available, school records, WIC vouchers with child's date of birth, or medical records can be accepted.
People who want to donate to the Christmas Crusade still have several opportunities to do so. Donations can be dropped off at Bass Pro Shops in the parish, Sam's Club, or Walmart stores in Walker, Denham Springs and Watson on the following dates:
Thursday, December 12th - 1:00pm-7:00pm
Friday, December 13th & Saturday, December 14th - 9:00am - 7:00pm
Sunday, December 15th - 1:00pm-7:00pm
Donations can also be mailed to:
