Dead doctor left phone number, medical bills behind
BATON ROUGE- Investigators released more details about a murder-suicide scene that involved a doctor, her elderly mother, and the family dog to WBRZ News 2.
Dr. Karen Diamond was found with her mom, Eula, Monday. Dr. Diamond likely killed her, the dog, and herself sometime Sunday; up to twenty-four hours before being found when deputies knocked on her door after being requested to do a welfare check by a family friend.
The bodies were found inside a house on Willow Grove, an upscale community off Perkins.
According to deputies, a phone number of a relative was prominently left out and medical bills were scattered on the kitchen table. No suicide note was left, and deputies said it is unlikely they'll uncover the true motive behind the gruesome deaths.
But, the doctor's friends said she was depressed and unhappy. She also recently left her practice with a hospital in Baton Rouge.
A few years before moving to the area, Diamond was suspended from practicing medicine in New York. She confessed to having a pill addiction, according to medical board records WBRZ News 2 uncovered.
Dr. Diamond was 47-years-old. Her mother was in her eighties.
