Dave Nussbaum joined the WBRZ team in December 2003. As a WBRZ Weather 2 Louisiana meteorologist, Dave informs the public of severe weather activity, visits our local schools and also assists with WeatherNet 2. Dave serves as the 2une In and Noon meteorologist.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dave's interest in television sparked at an early age. "I have wanted a career in television since the fourth grade. I went from being very afraid of storms to chasing them," he says. Motivated with a deep passion for weather, Dave took advantage of the on-camera experience received through his position as his high school's first weatherman.
Dave's interest in weather didn't stop in his high school newsroom. After earning a Bachelors of Science from California University of Pennsylvania in Earth Science with an emphasis in Operational Meteorology, he went on to Mississippi State University where he earned a Masters degree in Geosciences with an emphasis in Broadcast Meteorology.
En route to WBRZ, Dave interned at WPXI-TV, an NBC affiliate in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. While at Mississippi State, he did webcast weather and WOBV-TV Weather in Starkville, Mississippi. It was not long before he became the morning meteorologist at WSEE-TV, a CBS affiliate in Erie, Pennsylvania.
In 2008, the Louisiana Associated Press awarded him Best Weathercast. He earned 3rd place in the category in 2009. In 2007 he was also awarded 3rd place for his Breaking Weather coverage.
Dave has earned the prestigious ‘Seal of Approval' from the American Meteorological Society (AMS), is a member of the National Weather Association and an Eagle Scout.
Dave now resides in Baton Rouge. When he isn't working, he enjoys cooking, running, storm chasing and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers!
