BATON ROUGE - A little girl's wish to have her father home for Christmas came true today in Baton Rouge.

Madison Davis and her classmates at St. Jean Vianney wrote letters to the troops in Kuwait. What the class didn't know was that Madison's father, Master Sergeant Dean Davis, was waiting to surprise her at the perfect moment.

"She sent me a little squinky, it's basically a little pencil eraser. She said 'Daddy keep this and hold it, it will remind you of me.' So what I did, I took it and I had it in my hat and I kept it in my hat the whole time," Davis said.

The master sergeant packaged up the keepsake and gave it to Madison's teacher. When Madison saw what was inside the box, her father sneaked up behind her.

"Daddy! You're home!" Madison screamed as she ran and jumped into her daddy's arms.

"One hundred thoughts were going through my mind, how this happened and i'm just so excited I don't know how to explain it, my daddy is home for Christmas, that's really the best feeling in the world," she said. "I couldn't ask for anything else."

Davis' daughter didn't expect to see him until late January. Davis said he won't be leaving his family again for a long time.

Davis also thanked Madison's class for all of the letters, packages and well wishes they sent to him and his fellow soldiers.
