BATON ROUGE- Tourism leaders are expected to announce Tuesday, a significant increase in visitors related to the Super Bowl.

Data WBRZ News 2 obtained early, suggests as much as a 50% increase in hotel occupancy, and more than 100% increase in the amount of money spent in the area during the game.

The information is from the Smith Travel Report.

For hotel occupancy, bookings were heaviest on February 1, 2, and 3 (23.6%, 51.1%, and 79.0%). The Super Bowl was Sunday, February 3.

Revenue generated in the area, linked by the game, was the highest on February 2nd. It was set at $961,233.
