BATON ROUGE - Louisiana's new lieutenant governor says he was so excited to take on his new role for the state, he was unpacking boxes in his new office at six this morning.

Jay Dardenne was sworn in during a ceremony this afternoon, after winning the Lt. Governor's seat in the general election earlier this month.

Dardenne says many of the responsibilities for his new office involves things he enjoys, such as promoting the state's culture and attractions. He says finding connections between economic development and tourism will be part of his focus.

Dardenne says he's also open to any plans adding responsibilities to his office in order to make the state operate more efficiently.

Dardenne is leaving control of the Louisiana Secretary of State's office to former first assistant Tom Schedler, who was also sworn in today. Schedler will hold the office until next year's general election.
