BATON ROUGE - Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne has reported more than $1.5 million in his campaign account for the governor's race.

Dardenne's fundraising report, filed Friday, shows the lieutenant governor raised $690,000 in 2014. His campaign says he's raised $2.2 million since the election cycle began.

The fundraising pace appears to lag his fellow GOP competitors.

U.S. Sen. David Vitter said he's raised $4 million since kicking off his candidacy and closed the year with $3.5 million in the bank.

Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle announced his campaign in October and raised $1.5 million in three months. His campaign said he ended 2014 with $1.4 million on hand.

The lone Democrat running so far, state Rep. John Bel Edwards, said he's raised more than $1 million.

The election will be held Oct. 24.
