Dallas rapes suspect returned to Texas from La.
DALLAS - A South Dallas crime-watch volunteer facing four rape charges has been returned to Texas after being captured last week in Louisiana.
Dallas County jail records show 38-year-old Van Dixson was being held Friday on four counts of aggravated sexual assault. Online jail records do not list an attorney for Dixson, whose bond was set at $4 million.
Dixson was arrested Sept. 10 at a motel in Baton Rouge, La., and returned to Dallas on Thursday.
Police have said DNA evidence links Dixson to at least four rapes in the Fair Park area of South Dallas. Investigators say nine sexual assaults have been reported in the area since June.
Officials with the Mill City Community Association have said Dixson since January was part of the neighborhood group's crime watch.
