DA to consider adult murder charge for 16-year-old
BATON ROUGE - District Attorney Hillar Moore said he will strongly consider prosecuting a 16-year-old in adult court for the murder of another teen.
Baton Rouge Police arrested the juvenile Thursday charging him with second degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. He was booked into juvenile detention.
Police said Kino Harris, 18, was shot in the stomach Wednesday afternoon on Sparta Ave. and later died at the hospital.
Moore said he hasn't looked at all of the facts of the case yet but, "it's a serious offense, person is 16, treated as a child normally. However the law also allows us to treat that child in the eyes of the law as an adult, and often times that's what I'm going to do."
Friends and family members of the victim didn't know exactly what led to the shooting but explained there may have been some problems between the two at school.
