On Friday, past and present elected officials from around Louisiana issued a letter to Attorney General Buddy Caldwell requesting he withdraw the state from the lawsuit that seeks to invalidate the health care reform bill signed this week by President Barack Obama.
"If the attorney general chooses not to withdraw from this suit we will seek any and all legal remedies to protect the interest and rights of the people of this great state who desperately need access to quality and affordable health care," Fields said in the letter.
The Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus also announced Friday it is against Caldwell joining the suit.
News 2's Chris Nakamoto will have more with Fields tonight on News 2 at 10 p.m.
