Curbside Christmas tree collection starts Monday
BATON ROUGE - Curbside Christmas tree collection starts Monday in East Baton Rouge Parish, except in Baker and Zachary.
Trees placed on the curb will be picked up through January 18. They will be collected on normal trash pick up days by separate rear loaders or brush trucks.
The Christmas trees will be delivered to Natural Resources Recovery, Inc., the city-parish woody-waste recycling contractor, who will process them into compost or mulch.
The trees should be placed at the curb separate from other unbundled trash and waste.
All tinsel, metal stands, lights, and ornaments should be removed.
Drop-off collection sites opened Thursday December 26, 2013, and will continue to accept trees through January 31, 2014:
