BATON ROUGE- A new high school is coming to the capital city. Cristo Rey Baton Rouge High School will be moving into the old Redemptorist High School building in North Baton Rouge. The school will open its doors next August.

Cristo Rey leaders will start taking applications September 1st. The school caters to low-income students by implementing a corporate work-study program.

“The way we are able to serve exclusively low-income students is through the corporate work-study component where students work one day a week in a corporate work environment,” said Cristo Rey President Dr. James Llorens. “The money from the program goes toward off-setting student tuition.”

“This is just such a great opportunity for this community and it just feels like it's such a good fit,” said Chairman of the Board, Vic Howell. “We have the opportunity to touch and change a lot of lives in this town.”

The enrollment applications will be posted on the Cristo Rey website when they become available.
