Crews to conduct maintenance on Terrebonne Parish floodgates
HOUMA - Crews will be conducting maintenance on the majority of Terrebonne Parish's floodgates during the hurricane off-season.
The Courier reports the Boudreaux Canal sector gate, the Upper Little Caillou barge and Dularge floodgate will all be worked on during the winter. Levee district director Reggie Dupre says the Bubba Dove Floodgate was dry-docked last month after it was damaged by remnants from Hurricane Patricia. Dupre says that gate is not operational at the moment.
The Gibson floodgate was also due for maintenance, but the contract was suspended after the levee district received word of the pending high water event on the Mississippi River.
Dupre says only the Gibson area would be affected by possible flooding on the Atchafalaya River.
