UPDATE: Police say a motorcyclist is dead after Thursday night's crash on I-12.

According to BRPD, 40-year-old Marco Ferreira was entering the on-ramp on his motorcycle when he lost control and crashed into a concrete barrier.

He was pronounced dead at an area hospital Friday night.

BATON ROUGE - A crash has shut down I-12 westbound near Airline Highway.

The accident involved a motorcycle, according to BRPD. 

One patient was transported to the hospital in critical condition, according to a source. 

As of 10:45 p.m. all lanes have been reopened.
