Cracks discovered in levee around sinkhole
BAYOU CORNE- Work was stopped at the sinkhole in Assumption Parish Monday after cracks were found in the protective levee around the hole.
Cracks have been appearing on the levee recently. In October, cracks were filled.
The levee keeps the muck inside the sinkhole from escaping into nearby swampland.
Experts also reported Monday that the levee was sinking. Additional tremors have also been reported.
The sinkhole has been an issue since August 2012.
