Cousin: Man killed mother, then called her
BATON ROUGE - The cousin of a man accused of stabbing and killing his mother in Baton Rouge Thursday afternoon said the man called her and told her what he'd done.
Police took Brodrick Patterson into custody Thursday on suspicion of killing his mother, Lou Ethel Patterson, in her unit at the Turner Plaza Apartments.
Patterson's cousin told News 2 he'd been in a car wreck over the weekend and had been acting strangely ever since. She said he called her this afternoon and told her he'd stabbed his mother.
"I didn't believe it, I didn't know what to do," she said. "I just called police."
Police said they're questioning Patterson at this time.
News 2 crews will have more from the scene tonight starting at 5 p.m.
