BATON ROUGE - It's common knowledge that football fans or people with friends for football fans plan big events when LSU is out of town or has a bye-week.

So, When SEC officials announced Tiger Stadium would be hosting the South Carolina Gamecocks this weekend, some people scrambled to change their prepared plans or make accommodations.  A number of events have been canceled or moved. But a wedding, isn't exactly something that can change easily.

Truly Haute Event Planner Rachel Henry says her schedule fills up as soon a the football schedule is announced.

"Everybody wants the bye-week," she said. "If they have to settle for an away game they will or a non-conference game so we book those up pretty quickly."

Now that an away game has turned into a home game, some couples with weddings this weekend are learning the hard way, while others are going with the flow.

Melissa Walker and Blake Flemming are the latter couple. While picking that perfect day in October did have something to do with an LSU away-game, they're not letting the change of venue and game time impact them.

"I mean, I'm from Baton Rouge.  I get it," said Walker. Her groom echoing, "We know to schedule our weddings whenever they're away."

The couple says so far, their guest list has not changed and all their family and friends plan to attend Saturday. Yet, there's still that lure of being in Tiger Stadium for the 2:30 p.m. kickoff.

"There are some people that want to try to sneak into the LSU game at least for maybe a half and get here on time," said Flemming. To which his bride said, "Yeah, all the groomsmen want to go to the game and want that to be the day-of activity."

Walker knows there might be a TV around while the groomsmen get ready.

While there will be changes around the city, Henry says accommodations have been made and vendors should be prepared. She's had to plan a wedding on an LSU home game before.

"The challenges are real," she said. "The vendors are going to be duplicating with any tailgating event... we have to really plan around that."

Football is something not to be taken lightly in Louisiana. Then again, neither should a wedding.
