Couple wanted in car burglary
Detectives are looking for a couple wanted in a car burglary.
Police said on June 29, a few weeks after getting married, 33-year-old Michael Jermaine Wilson and 31-year-old Lesley Reed Wilson went to the victim’s home to pick up their photos from the victim’s brother, who photographed their wedding. The brother wasn’t home, so the couple left.
The next day around 5 a.m., the victim heard a noise and went outside to see the same car the couple had been in the day before leaving his driveway and his $2,000 car radio/amplifier/navigational system ripped out of the dashboard of his SUV. He copied down the license plate number and called police.
Officers traced the plate back to the suspects and went to their home, where they questioned Lesley. Her husband was not home.
A short time later, Lesley called the victim and said she would return the stolen property if he agreed not to press charges against her husband. The victim agreed to meet Lesley at a nearby grocery store, where she presented a notarized affidavit that the victim signed, promising not to press charges. Lesley left a few minutes later then returned with the stolen property, which she gave back to the owner.
Michael is wanted on charges of simple burglary of a vehicle, and Lesley is wanted for accessory after the fact to simple burglary of a vehicle.
Anyone with information on the couple’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Burglary Division at 225-389-3824.
