Couple seeks changes in golf cart laws
A Welsh couple wants to drive their golf cart on the street, but a state law could be a roadblock.
Arnold and Ruth Onken want the Welsh council to consider their request to allow them to ride their golf cart on local streets.
The Onkens recently bought insurance to cover any damages caused by the cart.
Ruth Onken said they've added headlights and taillights and are willing to add turn signals and "whatever is required" to make it street legal.
Sgt. James Anderson of Louisiana State Police has been asked to help the town research the matter.
He said initial research indicates that the golf carts can't legally be operated on highways and can only be driven on city streets with the council's approval.
