Couple gets hitched in hospital on Valentine's Day
BATON ROUGE - One couple literally tied the knot through sickness and health on this Valentine's Day.
When Green Beardon fell ill yesterday, one day before he was to wed his fiance Javonda Gibson, they called justice of the peace Moses Evans, Jr.
"Hey, I feel like 9-1-1," Evans, Jr. said. "The devil intended the sickness to be something bad, and we turned it into something good and their wish of being married on valentine's day was fulfilled."
"I couldn't mess this up. We had so much planned for today, I had to find a way to make this happen," Beardon said.
Maybe one day, the Beardons will be like one of the couples recognized by Gov. Bobby Jindal and the Louisiana Family Forum for being one of the top ten longest married couples in the state.
The three couples in attendance have each been married more than 70 years.
"Love is priceless. All the money in the world can't buy love," Evans, Jr. said.
