Couple charged in fight with officer over swimming pool use
BATON ROUGE- A couple faces charges after an altercation with police at a Tigerland apartment swimming pool Tuesday night.
Damien Hibbler is accused of fighting with an off-duty Baton Rouge Police officer, even choking the officer. Hibbler's wife faces charges for interfering in the incident.
According to investigators, the officer, who lives at the apartment complex, asked the couple to leave the complex facilities. They refused, and made a comment about the officer being in civilian clothes.
When the officer returned in his uniform, things escalated and became physical. At one point, the officer tried to tase Hibbler, but the equipment was not successful.
An employee at the apartment complex had to intervene when the two men began to scuffle, and the officer was choked. Eventually, Hibbler was handcuffed.
