SORRENTO - Deputies said they arrested a man and his wife after the couple tried to deal drugs to undercover agents with their four-year-old girl in the home.

Deputies from Ascension and Livingston parishes took Donald Sanford, 36 and his wife Chelsea Sanford, 22, into custody on Monday after they tried to sell methamphetamine to agents in plain clothes.

Investigators said they found a large amount of methamphetamine, four handguns, two bulletproof vests, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and over $90,000 in cash when they searched the Pond Street residence. Two vehicles and a four-wheeer were also seized following the Sanford's arrest.

The couple's four-year-old daughter was also found in the residence during the search, and the child was placed in the care of a family member, according to APSO detectives.

The couple was booked into Ascension Parish Jail with multiple drug related charges including distribution of drugs, illegal carrying of weapons, illegal use of drugs in presence of a juvenile, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of body armor, and possession of firearms by convicted felon.
