WBRZ - Baton Rouge

Police say Elliot Ambeau and Cheri Bear went on a robbery spree that started in Gonzales and came to an end in Baton Rouge.

Gonzales Police Department said Ambeau was the thief while Beard stayed in the car.

The couple started at Ambeau's job, the Cajun Country Inn in Gonzales. He was able to break-in with keys he had been recently given to the front office. The couple then robbed two gas stations, one in Gonzales on Airline and another on Starring Lane in Baton Rouge.

The two then checked into a hotel where the Baton Rouge Police Department spotted their car. They surrendered after a brief stand-off.

They only got away with $350 from Gonzales leg of the journey. Baton Rouge Police have not released the amount stolen from the Starring location.
