Councilman, citizen arrested after fisticuff
AMITE- A town councilman faces charges after getting into a fight with a citizen after the town council meeting Tuesday night.
Police said Jonathan Foster faces aggravated battery charges. A citizen was also charged in connection with the fight.
Police Chief Jerry Trabona said both men were booked and released.
ActionNews17.com reported Foster and a man, identified as Gerard Wilson, began arguing over where some cars were parked and listed for sale. Foster claimed the vehicles were being illegally showcased.
According to the news site, Foster said Wilson verbally threatened him before the fight broke out.
The story of the fight, and the picture posted along with the details on the Action News Facebook page, solicited comments from people about the drama.
"Instead of raising taxes, Amite can sell tickets at the next fight and maybe do a pay-per-view," a Facebook user named Raymond posted.
Court dates were not immediately available.
