Council, again, doesn't override mayor's budget veto
GONZALES- The city council chose not to override the mayor's budget veto Monday night.
As the council works to meet in the middle, and decide on a spending plan, the budget from 2013-2014 will be carried over into the new fiscal year, which already started. Some members of the council have forced a stalemate for the last few months.
Most recently, the mayor vetoed the budget after cuts were made to funding for the police department and economic development. He believes the budget was already reduced enough and further cuts were not needed.
This is the second veto related to the 2014-2015 fiscal year.
