BATON ROUGE - A man accused of stealing a watch from Lee Michaels Jewelry inside the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge is wanted by authorities.

Detectives said the man asked to see a Rolex "Skydweller", valued at $48,850.  When he had the watch on his wrist, he asked to compare it to another gold watch worth $60,000.

When the salesperson did not give it to him, the man ran out of the store with the Rolex watch still on him.

Deputies said he had a taxi cab waiting to help him escape.  They said the driver did not know what was going on.

Detectives are also talking with officers in New Orleans and with the FBI about a possible connection to a similar heist there.

Anyone with any information about the incident in Baton Rouge should call the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office at (225) 389-5000.
