Corps closes two more bays at Morganza Spillway
MORGANZA - Two more bays have been closed at the Morganza Spillway after river levels were recently found to be lower than expected.
Only 12 bays remain open at the spillway, pouring 120,000 cubic of water per second into the Morganza Floodway.
Yesterday a spokesperson with the Corps of Engineers said updated flow readings showed more water was pouring through the 17 bays they had open than was earlier estimated, so they began closing some of the bays.
