Coroner rules oil exec's death a drowning
The New Orleans coroner says 54-year-old Douglas Schantz hit his head and drowned in the Mississippi River over the weekend.
The oil executive from Houston wandered onto the Steamboat Natchez dock after leaving Bourbon Street Friday morning. He climbed over a guard rail and fell off the dock. A lesion on his forehead shows he drowned. The coroner is still waiting on a toxicology report to see how much Schantz drank while on Bourbon Street.
Schantz was president of Sequent Energy Management and was in New Orleans to give Tulane's Energy Institue $25,000.
