Cops: Party after wedding almost a riot
OPELOUSAS- Opelousas police say seven adults and a number of juveniles have been arrested and more arrests are expected after a post-wedding party turned into a fight.
Police Chief Perry Gallow said Monday that up to 100 people may have been involved in what he described as a near riot Saturday night at the North Park Civic Center.
Gallow says all seven adults have been booked with inciting to riot; some of them also were booked with other charges, including resisting arrest.
He says most of the people involved in the disturbance were female.
Police had been called about gunshots, but Gallow says officers didn't find any weapons - though a number of people ran as police arrived.
