Cool Schools: Spanish Lake Primary
GEISMAR - Louisiana is known for its live music. Playing instruments, signing and dancing are all part of our heritage. 5th graders at Spanish Lake Primary School in Ascension Parish are getting a head start on the tradition by learning to play ukulele.
"They are in the classroom all day reading, writing and doing math, but this gives them to do something different," music teacher Chad Leblanc explains.
Leblanc says it helps students with their memories and confidence.
"We learn the songs and the chords and the instrument," he told 2une In's Kylie Dixon. "It takes so long to do, but it's going to be worth it in the future."
