BATON ROUGE- Our Cool School this week is Denham Springs Elementary where a group of students got to spend Super Tuesday learning about the 2016 presidential race. The fun lesson was part of a nationwide vote from students around the country.

A group of 12 fourth graders at the school cast their ballots for the next president of the United States on Super Tuesday.

"We've been learning all year long, especially about the Executive Branch and the President being the leader of the Executive Branch," said Marissa Burt, a teacher at the school.

As part of the project, the students had to research, read and inform the class about their assigned candidate.

"I told them, your parents and your family will already have an opinion on who the best candidate is," said Burt. "I said, you can definitely  take into consideration that opinion, but I said, what we are going to do, is going to start fresh, and we are going to form our own opinions."

One of the students' favorite part of the assignment was learning interesting tid-bits about the candidates. One of the students, Jace, researched Hillary Clinton.

"I think what's kind of neat about her is that women think with their heart not with their brain. And, I think the heart is more important than the brain."

The fourth graders cast their ballots along with other classes across the country. Right now, Donald Trump is leading the Republicans and Bernie Sanders is beating Hillary Clinton in the nationwide class poll.
