Convicted killer to be sentenced Wednesday
BATON ROUGE - Jeffery Lee Guillory will return to court today for sentencing after he was found guilty of second-degree murder in September.
Guillory is charged with the murder of Renee Newman, who was found strangled to death in 2002.
Prosecutors linked Guillory to Newman using DNA evidence found under the victim's fingernails and on a T-shirt that prosecutors believe Guillory used to strangle her.
Guillory faces a mandatory life sentence in the conviction.
He is currently serving a 50-year sentence for attempted murder in another case.
