NEW ORLEANS - Sure, the paramedics weren't customers. But their ambulance was on an emergency run.

Employees at a New Orleans convenience story put a restrictive parking boot on an ambulance Friday while paramedics were inside the store tending to a man with chest pain, WWL-TV reports.

New Orleans Emergency Medical Services spokesman Jeb Tate says paramedics tried to drive away, but couldn't. Even after the boot was removed, the tire was flat, forcing paramedics to call another ambulance to pick up the patient.

Signs in the parking lot at Quicky's convenience store warn that parking is for customers only and that the store will boot vehicles.

Tate says the ambulance had its emergency lights on during the incident.

Store employees declined to comment.
