Democrats describe a new health care insurance industry-funded report as "distorted and flawed" and a "hatchet job" as it took aim at the Senate version of a reform bill. The study forecasts the bill will add over time thousands of dollars to the cost of a typical health insurance policy. The Senate Finace Committee is poised to vote tomorrow on a ten-year, $829-billion plan. Maine Senator Olympia Snowe could be the swing vote that puts the vote over the top in committee but she has not telegraphed how she'll vote. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office forecast the bill will not raise policy rates.
