Contractor causes gas leak near Prairieville
PRAIRIEVILLE - Firefighters responded to a leaking natural gas line that officials said was hit during road work.
A Prairieville Fire captain said it happened around 2 p.m., and the leak was stopped in less than an hour.
Rick Webre with Ascension Parish emergency management said a contractor was doing road work with an excavator when they struck the gas line, causing the leak.
Webre said Hwy. 73 is open at the site of the incident, and no evacuations were required.
