BATON ROUGE - BigTip.com, a national couponing site, is creating concern among Baton Rouge merchants.
Varsity Sports and Mellow Mushroom say they weren't aware their businesses were on BigTip.com, but CEO Matt Rowlen says they're under contract through third-party coupon sites.
"We work through our partners," said Rowlen. "We have hundreds of them. One of them, is Entertainment Publications."
Varsity Sports does hold a current contract with Entertainment Publications, while Mellow Mushroom does not.
However, spokesman Bill Daddi with Entertainment Publications said today they are no longer tied to BigTip.
"Entertainment was not satisfied with the practices as conducted by the site," said Daddi. "Which was reason for termination of the agreement."
Daddi says Entertainment's relationship with BigTip only lasted a couple months, and they are no longer bound by contract. BigTip says they still hold contract with Entertainment.
Rowlen agrees, the company has trouble with maintaining a solid form of communication, but every deal on BigTip is bound by a "contractual agreement with the merchant."
BigTip offers a 100 percent money back guarantee. If you have purchased an invalid coupon from the site, contact their customer service.
