Construction projects got the boot in favor of money for the Nucor steel plant in St. James Parish.
Projects across the Baton Rouge area are on hold so the state can put up $30 million for Nucor.
However, being on the back burner leaves some places like the Livingston Parish ARC with nowhere to turn. Performing outreach for the mentally disabled, the group has been waiting for the hundreds of thousands of dollars to renovate its dilapidated facilities.
Legislators will have to break similar bad news to hundreds of other projects.
All projects cut will have the chance to reapply for funding. Applications have to be in by Nov. 1.
