BATON ROUGE - A series of improvement projects are scheduled to take place at six schools across East Baton Rouge Parish.
School board members approved the plans Wednesday night during a "committee of the whole" meeting.
The schools scheduled for construction work are Belfair, Bernard Terrace, Greenbrier and Villa del Ray elementary schools and Westdale and Park Forest middle schools.
All of the schools, expect for Westdale Middle, would undergo work next summer.
The majority of the projects involve improvements to classrooms, including new flooring, ceilings and lighting.
Work at Westdale would begin in February and includes the addition of six new classrooms.
The plans, worth an estimated $14.3 million, will receive a final vote next Thursday during the regular board meeting.
The board also recommended a new online course program, E2020, which will be available to middle and high school students.
School officials say the system plans to subscribe to the program this school year.
