Deputy Constable Phillip Syas is an ordained minister and chairman of the constable's office in Baton Rouge.
He recently traveled to Newtown, CT in the aftermath of the deadly shooting at Sandy Hook School to offer condolences and support to first responders and victims' families.
Now he's started a local fundraising effort to honor the 26 lives lost.
