The New Morning Star Baptist Church north of Tallulah was smashed to splinters by a tornado over the weekend, but the Rev. Eddie Fountain and Deacon Charley Day say it will be rebuilt.
It holds services one Sunday a month for about 80 members.
Day and Fountain found the engraved cornerstone displayed near the church doorway commemorating the dedication on Oct. 4, 1904.
The men say the building served as a one-room school in the 1940s and has been a gathering place for more than a century.
