BATON ROUGE - WBRZ anchor Sylvia Weatherspoon has been named one of the city's most influential women.
Wednesday, the Baton Rouge Business Report released its annual list of Influential Women in Business. Weatherspoon, who anchors the 5 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 10 o'clock newscasts for WBRZ Channel 2, was recognized for her work in the community as a mentor and motivator.
Weatherspoon discussed her passion for telling stories with the Business Report, talking about her memories of reading the newspaper for her uncle.
“I loved writing, and I loved reading out loud,” Weatherspoon said. “In fact, I got in trouble at school sometimes for always wanting to read out loud.”

“He felt I helped him make a difference, but I didn’t do anything—I just gave him a platform to make his voice heard.”
