Pictures taken on Halloween night in Ponchatoula have caused some controversy among residents.
The pictures of a woman dressed in black face and three men in what appeared to be white hoods were posted on the Tangipahoa Parish NAACP website on Sunday.
Chapter President Pat Morris says the person who took the pictures believe motivations were racist. She posted them to show that this sort of racism still happens in Tangipahoa.
However, the manager of the bar where the picture of the three men was taken says there's nothing racial about it. In a telephone interview, the bar's manager told News 2 the men were playing a drinking game, and the supposed hoods are really T-shirts used as substitutes for blindfolds.

Apparently the pictures were taken off a social networking site. I know the person who took this picture and they did not forward them to the NAACP. I guess the NAACP just sits around looking for anything that remotely can be perceived as racism to make a mountain out of nothing.

If the pictures were taken at 2 different places, how can one possibly connect a lady dressed as Aunt Jemima to 3 men with t-shirts over there faces at another location??? Isn't Aunt Jemima a symbolic black lady that is used in advertising daily (syrup if I am not mistaken). Why is it we can use it in advertising, but not as a costume? Why is it that Michael Jackson costumes were OK, but not this one? How is it that a bar liquor game can be misconstrued as KKK - the shirts are clearly over the faces of the contestant, have no eye holes, etc. Sounds like more of the same drum up racism claims. It is sad because it de-sensitizes us to those acts of racism that truly need to be addressed (Justice of Peace Bardwell incident).

this is insane! i was there that night. and the pictures of the "white hooded klan members", were actually people playing a game to win a bar tab i think. they were being blindfolded. and the women who appeared in the black face wasn't even involved in this game. she was there with her friends. it was Halloween people! so i hope when you prove this not to be involved with "Klan" behavior that you publicly give this poor girl an apology for dressing up, just like everyone else did on Halloween!

Everyone who was at the Pub saturday night knows that the guys with the shirts on their heads were in a contest. the naacp is speaking on something that they have no first hand knowledge of (again)

To think that The Ponchatoula Pub and its patrons are racists is ludicrous! The Pub is the most diverse bar I have ever been in. Its regulars consist of blacks, whites, gays, straights and everyone in between. People should learn to STOP and think and maybe ask questions before they jump to conclusions.
