Concordia Parish authorities searching for killer
MONTEREY - The Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office says finding the killer of a 63-year-old Monterey man is its top priority.
Chief Deputy David Hedrick says John Perritt was found dead at his home about 11:30 a.m. Monday. Hedrick says Perritt had apparently been in the home for some time.
Hedrick says a man grading a road near the house called police after he smelled something foul and saw a blanket with a foot sticking out.
Hedrick says an autopsy by the Louisiana Forensics Center in Lafayette to helped determine an exact identification. Further details, including Perritt's cause of death, have not been released.
The sheriff's office is treating the case as a homicide. Hedrick said Perritt's car was recovered and was being processed for evidence.
