Computers spied on renters
PITTSBURGH- A lawsuit claims rented computers from Aaron's Inc. had spyware installed that secretly sent more than 185,000 emails back to the company, and some showed webcam images of naked children and people having sex. The suit was filed in Pennsylvania against Aaron's, which is based in Atlanta. Lawyers for the customers who rented the computers say the emails sometimes contained pictures secretly taken by the computers' webcams or other sensitive information including Social Security numbers and computer keystrokes. Aaron's says it was preparing a statement for later release in response to the class-action lawsuit.
