GIBSON - Company officials identified two workers who died in an explosion Thursday at a natural gas plant in Terrebonne Parish.

Officials with Danos said 40-year-old Samuel Brinlee of Berwick and 36-year-old Casey Ordoyne of Larose died in the explosion at the Williams Fields gas plant, according to WWL-TV.

The third victim, a contract employee for Furmanite, an oilfield maintenance company, has not been identified.

"Our employees are part of our extended family, and we are devastated by the loss of Sam and Casey," said CEO and President Hank Danos. "We ask for thoughts and prayers for the families and loved ones of the deceased, the survivors and all those impacted as we cope with this difficult loss. This is a sad, sad day."

The company said eight Danos workers were at the plant when the explosion happened around 11 a.m. Thursday. Two were treated at Terrebonne General Medical Center for minor injuries.

Williams Fields officials said the plant was not operation and gas was not going through the pipes when the explosion happened, which was when the Danos workers were doing scheduled maintenance. Authorities said federal investigators are coming in to investigate the deaths and the cause of the explosion.
