Body of local soldier returns from war
TICKFAW- A soldier killed in Afghanistan returned home for the last time Tuesday morning.
The body of Chris Drake, 20, was flown into the Hammond airport about 11 a.m. A procession will take his remains from the airport to a funeral home in Livingston Parish.
Next week, services will be held for the American hero.
People who live near his parents showed their support this week for the young man who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Front lawns in their community are adorned with American Flags and other patriotic symbols and colors.
"Chris was born and raised here, just as my kids have been. So it's tough to watch the family go through this," said Bridget LaBorde, a neighbor.
